Williamsburg Black Dry Pigments
Davy's Grey Deep #P6001701
PBk 19 - Powdered Slate
Deeper and more neutral than the English varieties - our slate pigments
come from Pennsylvania.
Graphite Grey #P6001702
PBk 10 - Graphite
Graphite ground in linseed oil. It retains the slight metallic, iridescent
quality of graphite. Great for wash drawings on prepared paper.
Ivory Black #P6001721
PBk 9 - Amorphous Carbon produced by charring animal bones
Cool black. Often used as a standard. Slight grit gives a velvet surface.
Mars Black #P6001742
PBk 11 - Synthetic Black Iron Oxide
Warmer, and creamier than Ivory Black with a distinct warmish glow
Slate Black #P6001691
PBk 19 - Powdered Slate
Like our Davy's Grey, we make this from pure powdered slate. A rich,
warm black. If you like our Black Roman Earth or Van Dyke Brown, then
try this one. Unlike most other blacks, this one is subtle and not
over-powering or heavy.
Lamp Black #P6001761
PBk 6 - Nearly Pure Amorphous Carbon
Strong, with a very smooth, velvety feel. Cooler than Ivory, with a bluish
undertone that becomes very pronounced when mixed with white.
